Homeowner FAQ | Roof Roof Direct

What is Roof Roof Direct?+
Roof Roof Direct is a Florida homeowner protection and recovery support resource. We help homeowners navigate home damage and recovery after storms, roof damage, water, fire, and exterior damage, connecting them with vetted professionals and guiding them through the process. We are not a contractor and we are not a public adjuster.
Is Roof Roof Direct a roofing contractor?+
No. Roof Roof Direct is a homeowner protection resource. We are not a contractor. We do not perform repairs of any kind. We guide homeowners through the recovery process and connect them with licensed, vetted Florida contractors from our network.
Who does Roof Roof Direct help?+
Roof Roof Direct helps Florida homeowners after any type of home damage: storm and hurricane damage, roof damage, water and flood damage, fire and smoke damage, and exterior wind damage. We serve homeowners across all 67 Florida counties.
How is Roof Roof Direct different from a contractor or public adjuster?+
Contractors perform repairs. Public adjusters represent homeowners in insurance claims for a fee. Roof Roof Direct does neither. We guide homeowners through the recovery process, help them understand their options, and connect them with vetted professionals. Our assistance is provided at no cost to Roof Roof Members.
Where is Roof Roof Direct located?+

The Recovery Process

What should I do first after home damage?+
Make sure everyone is safe first. Then document everything with photos and video before any cleanup or repairs begin. Contact Roof Roof Direct before making any contractor or insurance decisions. We help you understand what to do next for your specific situation.
How does the Roof Roof Direct process work?+
Fill out our short form or call us. Our team reviews your damage type and situation and helps you understand your options. Learn more about how the process works. We then connect you with vetted Florida professionals when you're ready, and stay with you through the process. Every homeowner who works with us receives 12 months of Roof Roof membership at no charge.
How long does home damage recovery take?+
Recovery timelines vary significantly depending on damage type, insurer response times, and contractor availability, especially after major storm events. Roof Roof Direct helps homeowners understand realistic timelines for their specific situation.
What types of damage does Roof Roof Direct help with?+
We help Florida homeowners after storm and hurricane damage, roof damage, water and flood damage, fire and smoke damage, and exterior wind damage. If you are not sure whether your situation qualifies, just reach out and we will help you figure it out.
Do I have to use contractors that Roof Roof Direct recommends?+
No. We connect you with vetted professionals from our network, but you always make the final decision. We never pressure homeowners toward any specific contractor or outcome.

Insurance & Claims

Should I contact Roof Roof Direct before or after filing a claim?+
We recommend reaching out to Roof Roof Direct before filing your claim if possible. Understanding the recovery process and what documentation is typically needed before your first insurance call can help you approach the process more prepared.
Does Roof Roof Direct file insurance claims for homeowners?+
No. Roof Roof Direct is not a licensed public adjuster and does not file or manage insurance claims on your behalf. We help homeowners understand the recovery process and connect them with the right resources.
What if my insurance claim is denied?+
A denial is not always final. Florida homeowners have options after a denied or underpaid claim: requesting re-inspection, filing a complaint with the Florida Department of Financial Services, or pursuing appraisal or mediation processes outlined in their policy. Roof Roof Direct helps homeowners understand what options may be available.
What is an Assignment of Benefits and should I sign one?+
An Assignment of Benefits transfers your insurance claim rights to a contractor. While not always harmful, AOB agreements have been widely misused in Florida. Never sign one without fully understanding what you are agreeing to. Call us first if you are unsure: (888) 876-6364.
What documentation do I need for a home damage claim?+
At minimum: photos and video of all damaged areas before cleanup, a written description of what happened and when, receipts for emergency expenses, and a list of damaged personal property. Your insurer may require additional documentation depending on your damage type and policy.
What is a wind deductible in Florida?+
A wind deductible is a separate deductible that applies specifically to wind-caused damage, and it is often percentage-based rather than a fixed amount. A 2% wind deductible on a $400,000 home means $8,000 out of pocket before insurance pays. Understanding yours before filing is critical.

Are there assistance programs for homeowners who don't have flood insurance?+
Assistance programs may be available for homeowners without flood insurance depending on your location, damage extent, and circumstances, particularly if a federal disaster has been declared in your area. Our team helps homeowners understand what options may apply to their specific situation.

Contractors & Repairs

How does Roof Roof Direct vet its contractor network?+
We evaluate Florida contractors for active state licensing, liability and workers compensation insurance, quality of work, and homeowner accountability. We connect homeowners with contractors from this vetted network. We do not employ contractors directly.
What should I look for when hiring a contractor after storm damage?+
Verify their Florida contractor license at myfloridalicense.com. Request proof of liability and workers compensation insurance. Get a written estimate with line-item detail. Never pay the full amount upfront. Never sign an Assignment of Benefits without fully understanding it.
What is a storm chaser contractor?+
Storm chasers are out-of-state or opportunistic contractors who target Florida communities immediately after storm events. They often show up unsolicited, use high-pressure tactics, and may not be properly licensed or insured in Florida. Roof Roof Direct helps homeowners recognize storm chasers and connect with vetted local professionals instead.
Can I choose my own contractor?+
Yes, always. Roof Roof Direct connects homeowners with vetted professionals from our network, but you always make the final decision. If you have a contractor in mind, we can help you think through the right questions to ask before committing.
Does Roof Roof Direct guarantee contractor work?+
No. Roof Roof Direct connects homeowners with vetted professionals but is not responsible for the work performed by independent contractors. All contractors in our network carry their own licensing, insurance, and warranties.
